Some decades ago I was gifted a box of glorious powdered pigments from a kind landlady. Colours such as Monastial Blue, Cobolt Green, Vermillion Tint and more. Mixed with egg yolk to create fast drying tempera paint, it’s the medium used for many medieval church paintings. What I enjoy is the brilliance and clarity of the colours, but it is tedious and doesn't allow for much spontaneity. Having said that I don't recommend egg tempera, but give it a go occasionally.

UPCOMING VACANCIES ON THE AGN COMMITTEE

TREASURER
Glenis Ambrose is standing down as Treasurer at the end of the financial year. This is a ‘must have’ position that the group needs to continue functioning, so please give it due consideration if you think it’s something you can help with.

PRESIDENT
Karen Loten has indicated that this will be her last term as President. Again, this is a ‘must have’ position to be filled at the next AGM in June.

VICE PRESIDENT
As per our Constitution, we need to have a named Vice President. Robbie Burns will be stepping down from the committee next June, so we are looking for someone to fill this role.

EXHIBITION CO-ORDINATOR
Gilly Booth is stepping down as exhibition co-ordinator. This is an essential role if we want to continue with our exhibitions.

A huge thank you to The Menz Shed for building us new stands for our art exhibits and a storage unit for them as well! We are so grateful.

Jeff & Colin on prototype, Richard on frame fabrication, Peter on painting, Tom on brackets, and Treasurer Grant as support and storage fit out.

Also massive thanks to Gilly, who has spearheaded this effort.

WHAT OUR MEMBERS SAY:

The Art Group Nelson has been a great inspiration for me and my own artistic development. I especially enjoy the monthly meetings with different guest speakers. Every guest speaker has something special to offer and I learn new things every time. Also, the encouragement we get from show & tell, where the members share their work is incredibly valuable. Thank you to the Art Group for being such a welcoming and lovely group

Being a member of the Art Group Nelson, has been a great learning time for me, with very affordable art courses offered and helpful advice. Also the opportunities I've had to take part in exhibitions, and meet other artists too.

I am thrilled to be a part of the art group community.
Art Group Nelson is a great link which connects the community through art, providing workshops, tutorials and exhibitions.
Great work, thank you.

I am part of the new comers to Art Group Nelson from about 1 year and just want to say that my feeling is that I have been here for a quite long time. Wonderful people, wonderful way to share experience. I love to use encaustic but I used other painting mediums as well and being part of AGN open new visions for my life, to be creative like other members , to hope for better and to share my experience. This is the most exciting " not visible" part of the art and artist life.
