Judging from members comments about our new meeting venue at Putangitangi Greenmeadows Centre in Stoke, I reckon it was a great success. Modern facilities, easy parking and the bonus of not having to put out or pack away tables and chairs made it a good choice.
Currently at the Wall to Wall Gallery on Bridge Street Nelson, we are showing more than 60 small art works from our members. The packed opening night saw a number of works sold with our congratulations going to Sharon Salmon for her ‘Marei Kura’ art work in watercolour and ink. Sharon was awarded the Jeff Connell award as voted by the People’s Choice with Robbie Burns a close runner-up with his lively oil painting of the esteemed actor, Morgan Freeman. If you haven’t visited the gallery then you certainly need to do so. The Exhibition runs for the month of August so don’t miss this treat with more than 50 works to admire from our members.
The planning for the next workshop is underway and we are delighted to have booked a North Island Artist Tutor. The artist will be Charlotte Giblin. Check out her website charlottegiblin.com including her excellent mini tutorials. Watch your emails for details as these 2 days of workshops are going to be very popular.
At the next Queen’s Gardens Exhibition positions will be balloted and there will also be a chance for new members to exhibit as will those who may just have one special piece of art to show.
Until the next meeting – a sketch a day will keep the cold away!
